ResponsiblePA today unveiled a new billboard campaign as legislators returned to the capital this week for the fall session. The campaign highlights a point upon which presidential candidate Donald Trump, presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Gov. Josh Shapiro all agree on – cannabis legalization.
The first billboard (included here) appears on 2nd Street in Harrisburg for those traveling into the city from I-83, as many lawmakers do en route to the Capitol.
“If Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, and Josh Shapiro can find common ground on common sense policy on cannabis legalization, why can’t the Pennsylvania General Assembly? Cannabis legalization has majority support across parties and in every corner of this state. PA voters wanting swift action for reform and Harrisburg has to act now,” said Responsible PA spokesperson Brittany Crampsie.
Recent polling data conducted by Change Research, shows majority support for the proposal in every county polled, across demographics and party registration. The polling looked at competitive PA House districts that have elected members of both parties and are considered “toss-ups” in the 2024 cycle.
More than 60 percent of voters in each political toss-up district (HD16, HD72, HD118, HD144, and HD151) favor regulated cannabis sales, demonstrating widespread public approval for legalization as a way to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and reduce the reliance on illegal markets.
Additionally, polling showed a candidate’s vote on cannabis makes no difference to most voters.
